LUMO
This Privacy Policy describes how Lumo (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in connection with the Lumo mobile application (the “App”) and the website learnwithlumo.app (the “Site”). We keep this policy short on purpose — and we keep the data we collect short on purpose, too.
1. Information we collect
Voice audio
Lumo's core feature is speaking practice. When you use a speaking exercise, the App records your voice for the purpose of evaluating your pronunciation. Audio is processed to produce feedback and is not used to identify you, build a voice profile, or serve advertising.
Learning progress
We store your game progress — completed chapters, mastered phrases, earned rewards, and phrasebook contents — so that your journey is saved and can be restored across devices.
Account information
If you create an account or sign in (for example, with Sign in with Apple), we receive the identifier associated with that sign-in method. We do not request more personal information than is needed to operate your account.
Purchase information
Purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment card details. We may receive anonymized transaction records (for example, that a subscription is active) in order to unlock content you have purchased.
Diagnostics and analytics
We may collect anonymized crash reports and aggregate usage statistics (for example, which chapters players complete) to fix bugs and improve the App. This data is not used to identify individual users.
2. What we do NOT do
- We do not sell your personal information — to anyone, ever.
- We do not show third-party advertising in the App.
- We do not use your voice recordings for anything other than pronunciation feedback.
- We do not collect your contacts, photos, location, or browsing history.
3. Service providers
We use a small number of trusted service providers to operate the App — for example, cloud infrastructure for storing progress, speech-processing services for pronunciation feedback, and subscription-management tooling. These providers process data only on our behalf and under agreements that protect it.
4. Data retention
Learning progress is retained while your account is active so that your journey isn't lost. Voice audio is used for evaluation and is not retained longer than necessary for that purpose. You may request deletion of your data at any time (see Section 6).
5. Children's privacy
The App is designed for a general audience and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction) without appropriate consent. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
6. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (including under GDPR and CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@learnwithlumo.app — we will respond within 30 days.
7. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards — encryption in transit, access controls, and the principle of collecting as little as possible — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but minimizing what we collect is the strongest protection of all.
8. The Site
The Site (learnwithlumo.app) is a static website. It does not set tracking cookies and does not run third-party advertising or analytics scripts. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which may receive your IP address as a technical necessity of serving the font files.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above, and significant changes may be announced in the App.
