Bosnian and its sister languages
Bosnian is one of the four BCMS standards — Bosnian, Croatian, Montenegrin, Serbian — that grew from one South Slavic root and remain completely mutually intelligible. It uses the soft ijekavian vowels it shares with Croatian (lijepo, mlijeko), is written mainly in Latin script, and adds its own unmistakable warmth: centuries of Ottoman history left Bosnian with beautiful words like merhaba (hello, among Bosniaks), ćejf (the art of savoring a moment), and sevdah (a sweet melancholy with its own music genre).
For a learner the math is wonderful: learn the shared core once, and Sarajevo, Zagreb, Belgrade, and Kotor all open at the same time — around 16 million speakers.
